Fire_Goddess,
In my working life, out of all the bosses I've had the women were better human beings than at least 75% of the guys.
I have not to this day had a cast iron bitch as a boss (I know a few who fit the bill!) but I've had some real tools amongst the guys. Egomaniacal/monomaniacal, plain idiots, lazy shit a**eholes blah blah & lastly control freaks. A couple have been good but the ratio sadly lacks .
I've been described as a slave driver who leads by example
My wife's boss on the otherhand is female and is a dead loss in every category save self promotion.
Enjoy

Fire_G you didn't leave an option for don't care.
I have worked with both and found that it doesn't matter. A professional relationship is just that. The gender of the boss shouldn't play a role, but the attributes of the person should. |

I agree with Nikir. I had a male boss who was an asshole and a female boss who was a real bitch but, I have had some really nice bosses too. It is in the character and how professional they are.
I could tell you some real awful stories that I experienced with a male boss once. What a awful man I worked for. He was mean. I worked for him for 3 years and then had enough of his awful temper. I left him in the middle of an important season. He ended up losing all his workers and his business because of his temper.
FG, you should make this thread the "what is the worst job or boss you ever had" thread. |

I haven't had an actual boss for a long time, but when I do contract jobs for people, I like the women better. They ask for help because they don't know how to do something, whereas the men, even though they don't know either, think that they do, and spend a lot of time telling me how to run my equipment, or to perform a task. I usually end up asking them why they hired me, and didn't just do it themselves. I think women make better bosses, among other things. |

yorbcbud is a lucky man. He does not need to have a boss. He is the boss of himself - whenever he feels like it, he can drive away in his bus-home.
Most of the boses I've had were pretty good. The previous boss I had was a very nice guy, but very inexperienced and uncomfortable in his role. We had team status meetings where he would just write every single word people said without really understanding what was happening, and everyone was bored. However, I must say that because I worked in the best finanancial firms in New York, I've been fortunate - most people are very sharp and smart. And that's the way I like it. |

Everyone has good input here and it's nice to seeus all agreeing and conversing cordially. I haven't worked for too many women, but I certainly have had some lame bosses. I agree with all of you all...good to see everyone is happy in thier work environments...makes for good people |

Yeah, maybe I'll drive down to Kentucky and get my ass tattooed. Almost everything else is.
I don't like answering to other people. Thats why I work for myself, and always will, Spicey. Enjoy your subserviance. People who have initiative and ambition, generally don't work for others. Sometimes you just gotta take a chance, and strike out on your own. It's worth it. |

Well, Tattoo Charleys is the place to go for a tattoo in KY....
Bud, I have seen alot of companies that grew from ambitious people who have the drive make it work so, I don't agree fully on your statement. True, alot of people on their own an ambitious to build something has made it but, I have seen alot of "strike outs" too. |

I agree. A person has to be happy with what they are doing.

That is what I said. You must have misunderstood what I wrote. I've "struck out" a half dozen times, but you just pick up and move on, rather than give up, and do the 9 to 5 thing. |

I totally relate to you BC in this area...we may disagree with politics and the war on terror...but I share the same view as you do on this topic. When you get knocked down get back up and try again, and success stems from failures more often than not |

It's not like there are any other options. I lost less in my businesses, than I did getting rid of female baggage. You really have no choice but to carry on. |
