My understanding is bicycles that are taken apart, and wrapped (e.g. in plastic) and that fit in the luggage overhead are taken on the train.

Last year we traveled ~400km on Russian train from Samara to Penza and took our bicycles. The train itself was going from Tashkent to Moscow and had a baggage car. We paid to put the bicycles in the baggage car. Not every train has a baggage car and so our other alternative would have been to take one train and have the bicycles on another.
