That sounds about right to me. |
By the way, Miami, the above was something I "quoted". Not my words. Careful, dude. Just wanted to know peoples opinions on that controversial statement. |

I don't think so. It's pure bullshit.
And, BTW, what's wrong with getting married “between the ages of 18 and 24”??? I think it's a perfect age to start a healthy family. Do you find it better to have a "career" first; get married at age 40 (if you are lucky), get pregnant (if you are very lucky) and have “down” babies?
Anyway, don’t even get me started.... |

| I thin the age of 25-28 is better for marriage. Statistically, those who marry earlyu are more likely to be divorced. |

I think the best ages for marriage is in your 30's. This way most of your partying is done, your college is done, and you are working a career that allows you to invest and save money.
Now, to the babies, I have seen alot of younger people have down syndrome babies than women in their 40's and it is because older women take better care of themselves. Younger women abuse their bodies more. Younger women don't eat, take vitamins, they smoke and drink. I saw a women having beer in a resteraunt while she was pregnant the other day, also the technology that is availabe today has reduced down syndrome and other birth defects. I just think lifestyle has alot to do with birth defects and what you do to your body. Hell, women are having babies in their 60's now. I think that is rediculous but it is happening now.
Just my thoughts.... |

You can have a best life style ever, take vitamins, stop drinking and smoking, however, it has nothing to do with preventing " Down syndrome". Down syndrome is not a birth defect. As far as I understand it is a genetic disorder.
At maternal age 20 to 24, the risk is 1/1490; at age 40 the risk is 1/60, and at age 49 the risk is 1/11. Other than maternal age, no other risk factors are known. |

ok...but if it's a genetic disorder then those risk apply only if the gene is in the family? |

That's right. But it's sad to see women that change their mind of what they want in life. And usually it's too late.......
What’s worse is when kid graduates from the high school and his folks are in the retirement home and can’t attend. |
