In 1969, Chnia attempted an invasion of USSR, and tried to take Damanskii Island. Then they tried to invade through the Kazakhstan border. Luckily they got their ass kicked in both invasions. On Damaskii, the Soviet Army brought in "Grad" missile systems, and just bombed the shit out of the Chinese positions on the island, and, on the other side of Amur. In kazakhstan, I think some kind of laser, or something was used...
Actually, even before 1969, there were literally fistfights on the border between Soviet border-guards and Chinese Maoist soldiers. AK rifle-butts were used quite effectively by our guys to beat back the Chinese, even though they were outnumbered like 10 to 1! Those guys were heroes! There were a whole lot of black eyes, broken noses, and knocked out teeth on both sides, from what I heard.
Fun times!
And now, the "dermocratic" government of Russia, just gave Damanskii up to the Chinese... Fucking bastards they are! Selling that which doesn't even belong to them! |

| You know, they were so worried about nuclear war stemming from that conflict that they built an entire underground city to serve as a bomb shelter here in Beijing. I went down there a few weeks ago. Only a small part of it is open to tourists but supposedly the total length of the tunnels is greater than that of the Great Wall and it could hold 300 000 people. Tunnels are supposed to stretch as far as the city of Tianjin. And the whole thing was dug by hand using tiny pick-axes. Was pretty impressive... |

| That's how government in Russia works nowadays. That is how historical buildings in St-Pete are being replaced with new office centres. |
