This was a true story. The killer was released and never charged. I don't see how this man got away with murder. Do they not have the man-power in Australia to investigate murder, especially when one survives this horrible ordeal and takes it to trial as a witness? |
Jojo don't come over here, this kind of thing happens frequently.
We are wild and uninhibited! |
We, meaning you wild and uninhibited? Yeah right? When do you as a lawyer have time? |

Is drinking coffee and watching a horror movie the best remedy for insomnia?

When the opportunity presents itself. Being an Aussie / Russkie, gives me twice the scope. |

I think too much. This is why I have insomnia and when it is hot out, I never sleep. Coffee does not interfere with my sleep.
Well it is good that you can find time to live, be wild and uninhibited. I assume it is in order wild/Aussie and uninhibited/Russkie. |

Your assumption is completely wrong as usual.
Why have order? It reeks of tameness, conformity and inhibition. |

True, who wants order. I never plan, I just do it. |

Even in afghan US is accused of using Phosphor powder and killing numerous people. Im not against to US but by the governement fools its people...... |
BS, don’t tell me you Indians can’t manufacture your own news stories either? Still, it’s a global addiction all this anti-Uncle Sammite stuff. Fills up a lot of Google. Just ask a few of the regular contributors here! However, I would have thought you Indians had enough to worry about concerning Kashmir, Bollywood, infrequent internal religious strife, cricket, burning effigies, and Shilpa Sheti?
| bswaminathan wrote: | | …for history the governement has to make a common apology for his homicide in Hiroshima & Nagasaki (2nd world war, nuclear bombing) even for pan am bombing the govt is responsible. |
These incidents were awful!
I think it’s a very good idea for every country to apologise for killing innocent civilians. I totally agree. Its also doubly tragic that pre-Hiroshima science had no idea about the lingering effects of lethal radiation fallout from an atomic blast.
(Er...Pan Am (Lockerbie?) Hmm....Your favourite conspiratorial URL, BS?)
But, why your particular US-centric focus here? Surely, a man of your deep moral convictions should be also actively lobbying the multitudes of other past injustices? What about situations now? Yes, there are MANY. Just because some countries don’t set up Green Zones to enable them to get figuratively slaughtered by the global media every 5 minutes, it doesn’t mean nothing else is going on in the world.
However, back to Japan and WW2. Yes, I think apologies should be made all round. Japan in particular should apologise for “liberating” East and SE Asia, starting from 1931 up until 1945. Of course sources vary in their information, but the following makes sobering reading:
| Quote: | “…….If one counts civilian casualties only, Japan's invasions were far more brutal than Germany's invasions. They killed, enslaved and raped millions of civilians. Japan was the only country to use chemical weapons (in WW2), and it pioneered biological warfare by dropping plague, cholera and anthrax germs on Chinese villages. The number of people submitted to medical experiments in Japan's secret labs is much higher than the number of German prisoners who suffered the same fate. Nobody will ever know the number of "sex slaves" who were used (probably more than one million) and who died (sources say up to 90%).
……..Prisoners of war in Japanese camps were used as slave labourers (and 31% died). If one includes China and all the occupied countries (Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, etc), Japan caused the death of about 12 million civilians, far more than those caused by Germany.
13/12/1937 - 3/1938:
Rape of Nanking or "Nanjing Datusha" (369,366 Chinese killed, and 80,000 women raped)
18/4/1942:
250,000 Chinese civilians murdered in retaliation for Chinese help to USA airmen
23/12/1943 - 14/2/1944:
Rape of Manila (all male Filipinos 14 and older condemmed to die, 100,000 killed)
1937-45:
Forced prostitution or "jugun ianfu" (400,000 Chinese women, 250,000 Korean women, 90% death rate, largest and most deadly mass rape recorded in history)
1933:
Shiro Ishii'ss medical experiments in Manchuria (victims vivisected while still alive)
Only nation that used biological weapons in WW II
· 1939: Shiro Ishii's biological experiments in Harbin, China (10,000 prisoners died)
· 1940: Air bombing of Chinese villages with germs of bubonic plague (october 1940, Quzhou), cholera (1940, Yunnan), anthrax, etc (200,000 die)
Only nation that used chemical weapons in WW II
POW camps
· 10 million Asians were used as slaves and with approximately only 5,000 or so survivors
· Death rate in Japanese prisoner camps: 38.2 % (ie. of those not originally assassinated on capture of course)
25/4/1943-6/44:
16,000 PoWs and 80,000 Asian slave labourers died constructing the Thai-Burma railway
Japan is responsible for the casualties of more than 20 millions in Asia”

The Japanese were one of the pioneers (so was Spain) in carpet bombing cities (civilians) too…..
Tragic. And, unfortunately, like the Germans (especially with regard to the Soviets), the Japanese reaped the whirlwind. Tragic for them too.
All of the above needs to be fully apologized for. Do you think you can help expedite this, BS?
Who knows what Japan would have done, unchecked, on their merry way to……..INDIA? (IF, the USA wasn't brought into the War of course)
By the way, how many victors in history do you know of that rebuild their vanquished enemies’ (Japan’s and West Germany’s) infrastructure and institutions? Then, willingly leave, while helping the vanquished to become two of the most successful countries the world has ever seen (plus also become strong friends)? Now, that’s a real story for you to ponder, BS.
However, pursue what’s dearest to your heart.
p.s. Why don’t Indians study more about this is issue (link below), a significant part of your history? Yes, I know it’s a delicate topic, best ignored:

Cheers,
DV
p.p.s I may be a Warny (sheik-of-tweak) worshipping, Bundy-swilling Gora, but I have many Indian friends, often share a good Madras curry with pappadums, while discussing the merits delivering a googly as opposed to a flipper. Congrats on winning the Twenty20

Interesting stuff - dodgy air defenses! Still, if Russia can make a few bucks out of it, why not? Good for Israel, good for Russia.
