The Presidentual Elections are coming up soon in Ukraine, and I just wanted to find out your opinion:
Who do you support:
1. Viktor Yushenko = current President, nationalist (supports UPA), pro-West, pro-America, was leader of the Orange Revolution.
2. Viktor Yanukovich = current Prime Minister, opposed to yushenko and his policies and views, pro-Russian, was supposed to be President but was overthrown in the Orange Revolution. |

Let's not leave out Yulia Tymoshenko, the forseen " 'white lady'.... with the 'warriors of light'....soon to arrive in the Ukraine, ......to "gain the power" .....(!)
......According to the latest poll by the Kiev International Institute of Sociology, Yanukovych's Regions Party will win 34 per cent, followed by the Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc with 25.7 per cent, and Mr Yushchenko's Our Ukraine party with 11.9 per cent.
A Tymoshenko-Yushchenko coalition may be able to control the legislature. If so, Ms Tymoshenko could replace Mr Yanukovych as PM."

If I were Ukrainian, I will wonder what advantages I could get from being pro West (European Union) or Pro Est (Russia) :
pro Est : nothing
pro west : everything
The choice would be quickly made (but it is my opinion...). |

That's great, Spicey. Now you can try voting with something bigger; like a pen. |

That's the thing, my friend: aside from a few nationalists in the Western parts, many Ukrainians, esspeccially in the East and South of Ukraine, they do not, and, actually, did not want the Orange Revolution. I've been to Kharkov, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Odessa, and Sevastopol (Crimea) last year, visiting with different friends. You should have heard the resentment toward Yushenko and his policies...
I've also been to Poltawa, the birth place of my grandfather, where most people speak Ukrainian, not Russian. But even there, a guy siad: | Quote: | | "Ahh, freedom of the Orange Revolution! Riiiiiight! And freedom will somehow put money in my pocket, and fix the rotten-though pipes in my apartment building?" |
No, I say, Yanukovich has more then a fair chance...
And closer ties with Russia will bring Ukraine many benefits... Like prices on gas and oil can always be... negotiated... and that's a just a start.
No, Russia and Ukraine should stand together. They always did throughout their rich histories. Hell, in the beginning Russia and Ukraine were one country, the Holy Rus, the Russian Empire... And both nations were quite happy in that country...
Timoshenko... well... she is hot... but nothing much in the way of brains... easily influenced... very bad choice for President... |

OK, That is ridiculous. I can see Timoshenko milking a cow, but riding a byke , it's no no. |
