I'm a bit thick so I just wanted to ask the experts for some clarification:
I am in Japan & possess a UK passport. So according to the new rules, I must now courier my invitation & all ancillary documents to London, hope that everything goes well on that side, & then await the package's return in Tokyo before expecting to stroll into Russia. Correct?
Many thanks! (& btw this is a fantastically helpful website) |

That is the state of play at the moment, but does anybody know the reason for this change?
It was a relatively simple matter to go over the border and get a new visa. Now it's impossible.
Who would remain in a foreign country minus their passport? |

Nick07: Call the consulate in Japan and check with them, just to be sure. Most likely you won't be able to get your visa there, but at the moment it seems this rule is being applied inconsistently. And it would definitely be a better option than posting your passport to the other side of the world.
Let us know what they say. |
