My wife is Russian and is a Pernament Canadian Resident, and we have a 1 year old son who is Canadian. They will be going to Russia in May or June. I can not travel with them becuase I will have to work.

My wife still has a valid Russian passport and my son has a valid Canadian Passport. I have some questions I hope you can anser for me.

1) Will my wife have no problems coming back to Canada? or will she need any special papers?

2) What type of VISA will my son need? Or does he need a VISA since he is only 1 year old? Will it look strange that a Russian citizen is travelling with her son on a tourist VISA?

Thanks

1. When you leave Russia, they check whether you are allowed to enter the country of destination. Your wife should have a correspondent document (Canadian green card, visa). Then she will not have problems.

2. Since your son is Canadian, he needs a visa to Russia. The age does not play a role. The question is not whether a tourist visa for your son will look strange, but whether the local Russian consulate will agree to give him such a visa. It's better to ask them.
