I've noticed on several trips to Domodevyo that Russians like their baggage shrink wrapped before they check in. There is a long queue. Considering that Russian bag smashers have caused repairs to a few old suitcases that have flown hundreds of times (1980s Skyway pieces) I'm wondering if I should do this next time flying from Moscow to Tomsk or Tyumen. How does the system work?

Thanks

It is good precaution in order to keep bag undamaged. Just look around, there are several guys who want to wrap your bags for a small amount of money (~100 roubles).

I saw the same wrapping service offered at Sheremetyevo 2 last year. I didn't know if the wrapper accepted foreign currency ( Euro, U.S. Dollar, etc. ) or only Russian Rubles.
