mikehow Just Starting Joined: 24 Oct 2008 Posts: 2 Location: london	Posted: Fri Oct 24, 2008 12:50 pm    Post subject: Travelling by train and visa registration Hello I am travelling to Russia on sunday and my destination is Tomsk. I am flying to Moscow but i want to get the train to Tomsk. I will arrive in Moscow around 4 am monday morning. My plan was to go to yaroslavsky station and get a ticket on the day for a train leaving in the afternoon. However i haven't factored in visa registration. If i get the train i won't arrive in Tomsk until wednesday or thursday so i won't be able to register until then, possibly beyond the 3 day limit. Will this be a problem? Am i likely to be stopped or fined by the police? A possible alternative is to stay one night in a hotel in Moscow and get my visa stamped there. Would this cover me for the journey to Tomsk? If i do get into a sticky situation i might have trouble as i speak very little russian. I really want to get the train but it seems like there are many potential pitfalls. If anyone has any advice it will be much appreciated. Mike

Since you'll be staying in Moscow for a day or so, you don't have to register in Moscow. Simply register in Tomsk.
