Here's my problem:

I am staying with a friend who has a Russian passport but who does not live in Russia (normally resident in another country).

This is between Jan 9th-14th in Moscow, so I WILL need to register my visa.

Can this friend with a Russian Passport but who is not normally resident at that address register my visa for me at a post office- can it be done if they put that they live at that address even if they only live there for a few days??? argh.

The owner (and there are not other people available) of the place we are staying at (one of her relatives) will NOT be available to register me.

I ask because I am short of funds and $50 registration fee is too much money to me. Booking a hotel or a hostel for 1 night with registration would probably cost about the same or more. When I go to St Petersburg, I will be staying in a hotel but I need registration in Moscow, which is my first port of call. My invitation/visa was not made through RealRussia, so they will not register my visa for a cheaper 750rub, so that option is out.
