Hello,,
My boyfriend and I are planning to visit Russia this summer - June or so. We need to get visas and will probably use your service to obtain an invitation and visa support. We plan to visit St. Petersburg, Moscow and take the Trans-Mongolian Railway visiting several towns along the way. We haven't decided which ones yet.

1. Do we need to register in each town we visit or just once when we arrive? Are some towns restricted for registration?

2. How do we get a migration card? Is this the second part of the registration form that needs to be sent to migration officials? How do we insure all the appropriate paperwork is completed?

3. How difficult is it to buy train tickets on the Trans-Mongolian Railway if we do not buy them in advance. We would prefer to buy the train tickets one leg at a time so we can be more flexible with towns we want to visit. Is June a very busy month for tourist travel, so we need to plan ahead?

We are just now starting to plan our trip and would appreciate any comments or suggestions. We are experienced travelers and never make advanced reservations, but realize we may need to do so for Russia.

Thanks

1. You need to register in each town where you stay 3 days or more. Registration won't be a problem anywhere that you're likely to stop on that route. In any case, if you're staying in hotels or guesthouses it will be taken care of for you (generally for an extra fee in hostels/guesthouses).

2. You're given the migration card on the plane / train when you enter.

3. So long as you're not fussy about the class you travel in and you can afford the possibility of being delayed a day occasionally, then it shouldn't be a problem to buy the tickets as you go.
