Russia doesn't have plantations of Tea.
In soviet times there were Georgian Teas, but nowadays you can say they're gone.
So what we have is imported tea from India, China etc.
The tea is mostly imported by british and asian resellers.
You will find Akhmad, Dehli, Newbie and many others. There're also Russian resellers - "Мир чая", "Русский чайный дом" and others.
Allthough you can buy different teas in the nearest supermarket, if you want to buy a really good tea, try to find speciallized tea/coffee shops, like "Мир чая" (tea world) or "Империя чая" (tea empire), "Чайный дом" (tea house) etc.
Such shops often offer degustation and tea ceremonies. Consultants there will help you to choose the color and the type of tea. |

It's not likely for you to find a page originally in English, so you'll have to usee machine-translated ones.
Note that the price can differ a lot depending on the region, e.g. Moscow prices are much higher than St.Petersburg etc.
Use translate.google.com for translation. Here're the links to the Russian online Tea shops

4) How is the tea industry in Russia, has the meltdown really affected the industry?

I've already named you several of them in the first post.
The situation differs alot in big cities and small towns or even villages.
Also it's very much dependent on the cultural level and the knowlege about the tea and tea culture.
I know many types of tea, but still can't name you the best types nad brands. The choice on the market is very big (we are speaking about St.-Petersburg here).

Mostly in person. Russia is not yet that much online-oriented, especially in terms of food and beverages.

ehm... can't tell you for sure just now
there're teas with a price like 400 rubles per 10g and there're packeted teas with a price of 50 rubles per 25 packets.

4) Is there a vast difference in online and retail tea prices?

I haven't noticed. THough there's generally a strange tendency to make online prices higher (sic!) than offline ones.

4) How is the tea industry in Russia, has the meltdown really affected the industry?
|
I haven't noticed anything, but I'm not an economist or something. I'm jsut an ordinary consumer.. Again, by the words "tea industry in Russia" I'm meaning a "tea reselling industry"

5) How is the Russian economy after the meltdown happening?

Nervous, but good. Far better than Iceland, Brasil or Africa Better than Ukraine. But again - I'm not confident in all that.

I suggest you just contact those sites I gave you already. Pretend you're a foreigner living in Russia and want some consulting on the types of tea they got currently in order to buy something you're used to. I suppose they will be willing to help |
