I'm very cautious ans suspicious about Obama as his close colleagues are standard "cold warriors". I don't expect any changes towards Russia. There will be many words but zero deeds. As far as I understood he hasn't done anything positive in foreign relations with Russia yet. Please correct me if I wrong. |

He didn't refuse to build it at all. It is simply PR. Next time he need something from Russia he will simply threaten with "un-pause" it. It is interesting that he proposed nuclear arms reduction treaty thus anti-missile defence will have more chances to work properly and effectively. If Russia refuses it will give possibility to scream on every corner how bad Russia is, if Russia agrees it will give possibility to build shield later and get serious advantage.
I think it should be a part of agreement:
0. Reduce strategic weapons by 80%
1. Do not build defences against strategic weapons. It doesn't matter against whom.
This is my uneducated opinion. |
