As an Australian in Sheffield, UK on a 4 month visitors' visa, can I apply for a visa to visit Russia while I am in the UK?
If so, where can this be done and is the process the same as is outlined on your website or are there differences in the procedure?

As it happens, I replied to another Aussie about this only yesterday:

Quote:
In general, you must apply for a Russian visa at a consulate in your home country (i.e., the state that issued your passport). The only exceptions are for Schengen country residents (not any help to Australians), or those who can document long-term residency in the third country.

Unless you are a legal resident, have a work permit, or have official student status (student visa, e.g.) in the third country, you will not be able to apply there. This status must be documented, and must have a term of 91 days or longer.

It's not clear to me where you stand, with respect to these exceptions. Your 120 day visa might qualify you. The thing to do will be to make an inquiry: the Russian consulate has actually outsourced visa processing to a private firm http://ru.vfsglobal.co.uk/.

Good luck!

I'm the other aussie, g'day mate.

Definitely sounds like they will process your visa application:

The exclusion is for someone staying 90 days or less in the intermediate country. Sounds like you should be right.

Only one way to find out though. Let us know how you get on please.
