|
|
I am a greek citizen and i want to get married to a russian girl in russia.
So i got a birth certificate,a paper stating the marital status,a copy of my passport with the Apostille stamp. Then i had them translated at the greek ministry of foreign affairs and then had the translation stamped at the russian consul in Athens.
My fiancee went with the translation only, to the local ZAGS in Miass,Chelibinskaya Oblast' and they said they also need the original Apostilled documents and the translation all put together.
1.How and where can that be done? Can it be done in Miass?
Please note that a greek citizen in order to get married in Greece must a get a document where your marital status is stated and that you are allowed to get married. But here you can get another type of document where your marital status is stated. There its written all about you.Your name, your father's name, your mother's,brothers' and sisters',the place of birth and residence and the MARITAL STATUS of all the above mentioned and you.I got the second one.
There doesn't seem to be a problem with the type of papers i send. They only need the original ones and the translation and then have them all put together.
I plan to go to russia in 15 days.I Can only stay for 24 days and i don't want to go to Moscow to have the papers ready.
2.Can we get married in that period of time in Miass?
I heard that after we had out papers done we have to wait for 32 days to get married.
At the greek consul in moscow don't have a clue about which papers are needed to get married.
I am desparate about what to do.Any suggestions would very helpful. |

Could be a big problem.
When documents are translated under an apostille stamp, the translated and original documents are supposed to be attached and you are not supposed to touch them or detach them. You might need to get a new translation and apostille done for these documents to do it the right way.
However, if the ZAGS office isn't familiar with the rules or if you are paying for VIP express service, then you might be able to just attach them yourself and resubmit them. I know Miass. It's not a large city, so I think you should just send them to your girlfriend and ask her to resubmit them.
Technically, you should be at the ZAGS office with her to ask for a date. But I know that if you pay an extra VIP fee then some ZAGS offices will let you arrange a date before you travel to Russia. Yes, there is a minimum delay of about 30 days after you ask for a marriage appointment.
Some other countries have information about marriage in Russia on their websites. You might want to hunt in Google for this.
Have fun! |

In Russia there are people called New Russians (Noviye Russkie). They don't like to wait for things. They are Very Important People (VIP) because they have money to pay for fast (express) service. In the airports, they pay for VIP express service and go through a separate waiting lounge and a separate queue. In Ekaterinburg airport this is upstairs on the 1st floor of the departure terminal.
Also, in clubs and some restaurants, they have VIP rooms. So you can safely ask somebody if they offer a VIP express service and they will not accuse you of attempting to offer a bribe. You are only asking a question. Of course, if somebody is willing to invent a VIP express service for you, you have just informed them that you have money and are willing to pay for fast service. Now the decision is up to them. |

Mitsos,
If your girlfriend doesn't know how to do this then it won't do you any good to know two more words of Russian. Please discuss this with her.
She lives there. If she doesn't do things like this, then nothing I can say will help you. |
