Hi Everyone,
I'm a graphic designer from Sydney, Australia. At the moment i'm developing a logo for a corporate marketing company that will be launched in Russia. I need to find out what colors are favoured in Russia and what they mean to Russians. Also, what color is mostly used for corporate design.
Thank you,
Sam |

I'm not into graphic design or anything, but isn't that a completely subjective and totally varying opinion ? Different colors mean different things to different people, in any country, I'd assume.
What colors are favored or what colors were used ? Because they USED when they built everything grey, yellow, beige and pink. But I'm less sure that anyone really ever *favored* those colors.
And, as in any country, I imagine what colors are used in corporate designs depend on the company, it's business, etc. All colors are used. Nothing specific about the use of any one color.
Just my thoughts as a Russia-geek.

As an ex graphic and web designer, the trend these days tend to be towards lighter usages of greys, greens, blues, burgunday, etc and the same can be and would be applied to Russia. Since Graphic design tastes tend to be somewhat universal worldwde to certain extents, I think what works everywhere else should for work for Russia.
Case in point, check out these corporate sites that I had ex-coworkers and friends work on:
http://www.websidestory.com/
http://www.nyse.com/
http://www.londonstockexchange.com/en-gb/
And compare that with Russian corporate sites:
http://www.gazprom.ru/
http://www.micex.com/
http://www.yukos.com/
And as for Russians and their color tastes: I dont know for sure, but the way cultures view colors, I think the same can and would apply to Russia.
Red: In Russia probably symbolizes Marxism, Communism and leftism. Lefties and the USSR nostalgics use it a lot. |

I dont dress Ali G. The G-man, the king of Hip-Hop style dresses himself.
Speaking about that, I just read and realized: Red is the color of the patron saint of Russia, England, Georgia, Lithuania: St. George. That could figure into it as well.
And I found this:
http://www.adm.samara.ru/en/content/5/51/675
| Quote: | | In Russia the white color symbolizes generosity and frankness; blue — loyalty, honesty, aultlessness, wisdom; red — courage, magnanimity, love. The Russian tradition may have the following interpretation as well: red color is associated with Russian people, blue — with the Ukrainians, and white — with the Belo Russians. So, the use of these three colors has a long history in Slavic states, mean the sacred union of the Slavs with a unique cultural heritage of each nation. |

It may not be appropriate for the actual business, but why not the colors of the Russian tricolor? Patriotic sentiment is running high these days! (Or so I've read ) |
