| Hehe, once on vacation I lived next door to two young Russian men that blasted their stereo day and night, mostly night, threw drunk and noisy parties, made dirty come-ons to every attractive woman in the building, whined that they didn't have a car and in Russia they always had a car and drank about three liters of vodka a day.A**holes are worldover. |

| depends on where you are. if you`re in a little town, where people are not used to see foreigners, as a girl you can expect some marriage offers. when you reject (duh) most of them give up, though some might be persistent, which can be annoying. but on the other hand, I`ve met hundreds of the most sweetest men!!! |

| Just asking but does anybody here find Russian men really, really obstinate and controlling? And Nordically cold and hard to get along with? |

Not all. Although some are Canadianly icey (apologies, Dr. Fauste) others are positively Mexicanly hot. The one thing they aren't is New Yorkerly dumb. |

No, I'm married to one. He is anything but cold, obstinate and controlling. Of course like any other human he will have strong opinions about some things and like many men, will go on talking without listening. But a simple, "Stop talking and listen!" solves it. He always asks me about what I think of something before going ahead with it. He doesn't drink or smoke. He loves his sound system but tries not to annoy the neighbours so much.
Then, there are your very nice neighbors who say YOU play your TV/hi-fi so loud, yet you can hear every word of their kitchen spats or even the FM radio. Blame it on Russian construction of thin walls?
I have a lot of Russian male friends. They are very affectionate people once you get to know them. At first they may look a little cold because they aren't sure of what you may think of them as a foreigner but if you have a positive attitude towards them, they become friendly.
Of course, then again, people are individuals. What I've told you about are derived from the people I know. |

I would have to say not at all. I have been in a relationship with a Russian man for two years and he is far from obstinate, controlling or cold. He is very affectionate and caring, and would never tell me or bark orders at me. He treats me with much respect and so do other Russian males that I associate with. I think a lot of mothers instill this quality in their sons, the Russian bad ass sterotype that has been displayed in American movies has had it's affect on your opinion. Take time to get to know a Russian man and you will see that the sterotype used against them constantly is false. |

Again here you are generalizing. Everyone throws loud parties, and it is not out of the ordenary for three liters of Vodka to go by during a party. In fact I would have to ask you if that was it? Every drunk makes dirty come-ons. YOU need to relax and insteed of standing back and calling them assholes, you should have joined the party. It would have given you the chance to get to know the guys. So stop generalizing and making Russian men out to so bad and inconsiderate, get to know them and you will see that it is indeed the opposite. |

On your next vacation, I wish you two loud, drunk, spoiled rich boys with a humongous boombox for next door neighbors. See how you like being forced to listen to T.A.T.U. on maximum volume until four in the morning.
And I'm not calling all Russians assholes, I'm calling those two cretins assholes because that is what they in fact are. |

Who was it that said something like 'I despise my country with all my heart but detest it when a foreigner agrees with me. ' ? Tsk, tsk, Camrade where is your patriotism?
Exactly as I suspected but I have long come to the conclusion that the majority of people anywhere are bastards and intelligence is slowly dying out across the globe .
