| I think so. But do Russians who live there also agree? |

Every country has their advantages and also their shortcomings.
I am not going to say that Russia IS the greatest or ISN'T the greatest coutnry on the face of the earth. But I can say that I AM proud to be Russian and that I do find it the best country to live in.

Well said, Vic.
Responses will be subjective. There are things I love about this country and are dear to me, and lots of things it needs to solve. But I can make up lists of pluses and minues about any country. It's what you value as important that's gonna determine 'your favorite'. |

I think that if Russia did the following, it would become of the greatest countries:
1) developed into a real democracy politically (totally free press, real competition between different parties, etc.)
2) completely liberalized its economy - make investmant climate friendly to domestic and foreign companies and minimize beauracracy. Today, rules change often and because of some high profile cases, a lot of money is leaving russia
3) strengthened the rule of law so that businessesses and people can be certain what happens tomorrow
4) developed world-class system of medical care
5) eliminated outdated immigration rules making Russia truly open to tourism and foreign businessman
6) improves its infrastructure (roads, airports, railroads, etc.)
those 6 things would be a good start |

Good analysis.
Except the point 5 (already done), that s exactly Spain did after Franco's death.
And it works. |

| Hmm I think Russia is a very special country. Don't know why, but I have recently found myself really intruiged by it, for no particular reason at all. I'd love to one day spend most of my time between Russia and Australia, and while of course your home country is always ur fave (if u wanna see those six things, then come here lol) I'd say that Russia would most likely be my second favourite country. I reckon i could feel patriotic about Russia, which is werid. But then again i'm a weird person so that cancels out. |
