Don't forget the U.S. and everyone else in the NATO coalition who did a "bomb and run" on Yugoslavia and never bothered to compensate ANYONE except maybe the Chineese embassy that was destroyed by them in the process of killing Serbian civilians.

Again the evil US.
US had nothing to win in this war, US and NATO decided to act because of the destressing show of UN forces.
No Vic, US didn't do any civilian process killing it was exactly the opposite : they saved a lot of civilian lives by stopping this stupid war in Kosovo between Serbians and Albanese.
Of course, in their bombings some civilians died but Clinton did his possible to avoid Civilians as much as possible.
As for the Chinese ambassy, well every diplomats has been warned by US and most of them left the bombing area except those stupids Chinese.
Sometimes as European I am ashamed of that : it was a European problem and Europeans were unable to act, only Clinton had "the bollocks" to stop this war (even if he had to use military ways, btw no choice) and he succeeded. |

Kosovo is etremeley off topic in this thread. This is about Chechnya please! Whizz if you want everyone to know your 2 cents about Kosovo, make your own thread about it and don't bait and troll Vic into another irrelevant and pointless pissing war between you two. |

It s off topic but needs an answer. Europeans used their defense system to solve a european problem. 88% of NATO members are european, 92% if you include Turkey, which has some of its territory in Europe and postulates for E.U. The 2 non european countries (USA and Canada) have strong historic ties with Europe (former colonies and ancestry).

| Well if it's off-topic, make a new thread. I agree it needed to be answered, but all you're doing is encouraging Wizz (and Vic) to make more off-topic, unnecessary posts in this thread. There was a lot of outcry against Clinton's bombings inside the US, myself included. It was a stupid war, sure, but what Balkan war hasn't been? More importantly, there was no genocide. Killing of civilians, yes, genocide, absolutely not. END OF STORY (for this thread). |

Hello.
NATO was right to bomb Serbia.
Milosevic was a serial ethnic-cleanser. He invaded Croatia and massacred civilians in Western Slavonia. Then he invaded Bosnia. Then he committed massacres in Kosovo. Now he is where he belongs in the Hague, and I hope he spends the remainder of his miserable life in jail.
I personally feel that the Slavic origins of the Serbs blind most Russians to the wrongs of Milosevic.
Remember Screbrenica, where 8,000 Bosnian Muslim men and boys were taken away and shot dead, before being buried in mass-graves. Remember that 88% of the 200,000 missing in Bosnia are Muslims, with 12% being Serbs and 3% Croat.
I see parallels with Chechnya in that the term "internal affairs" is used as a blank cheque for treating the inhabitants with the worst possible tyranny, and then complaining when they react likewise. Even the pro-Moscow puppet-government in Chechnya has stated that there are 50 mass-graves in Chechnya.
If Russians believe that massacring innocent Chechens will stop the terrorism , then they are wrong. The solution is negotiation.
Britain talks to the IRA. And as a result, the IRA doesn't bomb Britain anymore. These ethnic-conflicts cannot be solved by bombing people endlessly. All that does is increase the hatred, leading to more black-widows/shakhids etc. You need to address the underlying causes of the hatred - namely the human rights abuses by the Russian troops in Chechnya. And those of Ramzan Kadyrov, who heads death squads who round people up for death.
Here is one example of what I am talking about. But the Western media reports that it is the tip of the iceberg.
