I think December is not the best time to go for snow and cold. You can always check what the current weather is at http://waytorussia.net/Moscow/Guide.html - in the right corner below.

The most snow is in January and beginning of February.

But sometimes just before Christmas it can get quite snowy and cold too.

I've been to Moscow in January and March before. The coldest month was March when the temperature never got above -8. The time I went in January coincided with an unusually warm spell in Moscow when the temperatures hovered around zero - so that even though it snowed a lot, it often turned to slush immediately. Normally, you can expect lots of snow over any of the winter months.

it is quite snowy right now - we have snowafalls every two days and between the snow is melting slowly.

in fact there is no special month when you can catch snowy weather, during all winter month we normally have much snow, however, in january and february there are more chances to find snow in Moscow.
