Yes, I've got a visa. Finally. I started researching on how to get a Russian visa back in April. According to WTR and their very friendly and quick partner(intelservice) I was recommended to have the original invitation letter sent by post. Their experiences was that it is nesccesary. Other places it is said not to be the case. see::: http://members.aol.com/imershein/Page3.html#chin.
My expences would be:
Train ticktes to and from shanghai/beijing : 90 usd
visa application : 75 usd
original invitation letter 30+50usd : 80 usd
5 days waiting in shanghai/beijing,hotel etc : 140usd
TOTAL: : 385 usd.
Then I came upon a Chinese travel agency recoommended by the Russian embassy itself. They have now completed the visa process for 200 usd. Though they are not very professional and first said that foreigners in China only could get a tourist visa for 10 days!!! Of course this is NOT true.

IF I lived in or close to Beijing/Shanghai I could have done it all myself. Using WTR. This would have been far cheaper.
