| It looks like a short flight (90 minutes) between St Petersburg and Moscow. Can I travel to Moscow for two days without much problems? I have already sent in my Visa paperwork and did not mention Moscow, can this be changed once I get to St Petersburg? |

rwenban,
You may stay in any other place in Russia for up to three days without registration. Save your tickets in this case.
It takes 4:47 hours from St. P. to Moscow by train and I think it is less than flight + way to and from airport + registration. |

| Thank you for the quick response. Train might be a better way to travel than airplane. |

The flight on either Pulkovo or SU take a little less than 90 minutes. I take it quite often, and in fact as recently as a few weeks ago. I think I paid about 5000 Rubles.
I would think the train is much less. Assuming you are already in Saint Petersburg, I would suggest the train in your situation. The additonal time spent going to Pulkovo, checking in for your flight, and from Sheremtyevo1 to downtown Moscow will take at least 3.5 hours. Also, you will incur the additional cost of taxi to and from airports.
The flights, although pleasant enough, are just another airplane ride. However, you will find the train to be quite an adventure and nice experience. Not to meniton the convenience of Saint Petersurg city center-Moscow city center departure and arrival.
I am assuming you are already registered in Saint Petersurg, therefore it should not be absolutely needed to register in Moscow. You just need to be registered somewhere in 3 days.If you are staying in a hotel in Moscow you will be able to register upon checking in at the hotel. |

Firstmate,
Thank you for the information. I will be staying in St Petersburg at a hotel call PIO. I believe it is in the center of the city (Mokhovaya street). I will plan on the train and enjoy the experience.
Regards,
Rick |

| After reading my post, I thought I should clarify that the approximate 5000 Rubles paid, was for round trip air fare. |
