|
|
Hello,
By the way, great site!
I have a question regarding the re-registration of a one year visa. I understand that the new law maintains that a registration only lasts six months, so that holders of one year visas have to re-register their visa at the six month point. My questions are the following:
1. Do you have to cross the border (exit and re-enter the country) to re-register? Can you simply get another registration from your registering company?
2. If the answer to #1 is yes, you have to leave and reenter: What timeframe MUST you be out of the country for? One minute? One day? (weekend or weekday?)
3. Can you exit on the DAY of your expiration, or do you have to exit the day BEFORE the expiration date? i.e. If i register May 15, and six months later is Nov. 15, can i leave on Nov. 15, or do i have to leave on Nov. 14th?
Likewise, can I re-enter on the same day as the visa expired, after getting the new registration?
4. How do you know what that expiration day is? Will it be noted on the visa?
I guess another way to ask that is:
Does the six month mark go by month/day (for example May 15 --> Nov 15) or by the number of days in that period?
(30 x 6 = 180 days) as some months are longer/shorter than others.
Thanks so much!

1. You don't only have to re-register, you can't spend more than 6 months in a row on a business visa, so yes, you'll need to leave Russia and then come back and re-register at the company that issued your business visa support.
The period you leave for doesn't matter -- it's important that there's a stamp in the passport that confirms that.
3. This is a bit tricky: I think yes, but I would recommend to do it one day before to avoid any confusion.
4. Yes, it is noted on the visa exactly what date it starts and expires.
Hope this helps... |
