|
|
Oh, the previous thread relating to this was killed - not selectively moderated/edited!
So, where were we? Oh, that's right......Young Russian men and women......
(Refer back to the earlier thread to recap.....)
Its odd that I hear there are so many more young Russian women than men under 30. Surely male pre-mature death happens more in middle age? All the guys aren't getting killed off by the Nazis anymore. Or, maybe lots of young Russian guys migrate to other countries alone, decreasing their proportion in Russia? |

| No it's true and this topic has been discussed here numerous times...you'll just have to go there. Birth rates are low, perhaps more girls are born too, and the males die earlier by age 59 I think. And many die at an early age due to self abuse. But I think it will improve. |

Yes, I read that the guys die on average at 59. Still, this means a reasonable number of younger guys can play happy families? Obviously, not enough though.
Ok, so what proportion of young Russian guys are supposed to be drunken, self-abusive, losers that die young then? 20%, 10%, 5%? Surely this stereotype is over-inflated? Don't mean to offend. |

maybe it is...but I doubt it. Putin is addressing the issue. Right now they only conscript a certain percentage of the males into the military...but it is estimated that within 20 years all will have to go into the service |

In 20 years, I'm predicting there will be less young Russian men available for military service than now. So, perhaps full conscription will be a necessity.
Russia's birthrate is still 1.1/kids per couple. Population effectively halving each generation.
A present energy-reliant (oil/gas) economic recovery there may be, but, have current cost of living expenses simultaneously risen too sharply for average wages? I am not sure, but things are much more rosy economically - now - than they may have ever been (for some - not all - Russians of course).
Regardless, if demographic trends continue as they are, even with some slight birthrate and community health improvements, there will still be millions less indiginous Russians 20 years.
Right now, 700, 000 Russians/year are still leaving their country for good too. |

Was it 250,000 rubles Putin was offering to couples to have a second child?
If it is/was, this US$10,000 is a lot of money for an average Russian! |

"........Official statistics show that almost 8 of every 10 marriages end in divorce, and one-third of children are born out of wedlock. "The interests of men and women seem different, so women just depend less on men," says Olga Istomina, a student. "A lot of people live together. Partners change all the time."........"

I think that 8 out of 10 divorces has to do with certain generations and lose of value and traditional teachings. People marry for the wrong reasons. It has alot to do with money and not with the heart anymore. Around the 1960's and 1970's people wanted their freedoms and didn't want to be tied down. More and more couples live together because they fear the paper, so to speak. I have news for them in certain places of the US if you live together more than 7 years you are considered married by law and if you want to separate you have to go file for divorce, (Common Law). There is no just packing your bags and leaving you have to go through a real divorce just as if you officially got married and if you have children together they are part of the divorce procedure.
Russia does need to get on the ball and make more babies and KEEP THEM!
I don't know about Russia, but does Russia have "Common Law?" Is it the same there as the US?

From the CIA world factbook
| Quote: | People Russia
Population:
141,377,752 (July 2007 est.)
Age structure:
0-14 years: 14.6% (male 10,563,567/female 10,021,316)
15-64 years: 71.1% (male 48,412,612/female 52,061,604)
65 years and over: 14.4% (male 6,360,038/female 13,958,615) (2007 est.)
Median age:
total: 38.2 years
male: 35 years
female: 41.3 years (2007 est.) |
so about 4 million more females than males aged 15-64, and interestingly over a half million more males 0-14. |

True finances is the #1 struggle in marriages and reason why they fall apart. I know in mine that was the deciding factor. And I think in my last long term relationship that contributed too. The thing is so many women want a man who has money, staus, and power...and men want the good looking sexual dynamo. But this is all so superficial. I actually read some where that prior to to the 1950's marriages were often a result of convenience and more of a business type of relationship then being born out of love. Not sure if this is true.
Anyway divorce comes so easy now and a good marriage is getting more and more hard to come by...i guess it takes so much more work then what people are willing to put into it. |
