Hi.
Two questions:
- I'd like to go to the Mariinski, do you think that "2nd gallery circle" tickets are too bad? I saw a couple of pics and it's ok...definetely not the best, but good enough to see the spectacle without suffering. I hope you know what I mean.
- Do anyone hear about "Polikoff" hotel? Suggestions...
Thanks! |

Hi. Just wanted to tell you that if you need advice about
Russia and especially Saint Petesburg you're welcome to contact me and
I'd be glad to answerall your questions. We LOVED Saint Petersburg,
Russia and would certainly come back again if we had a chance. My
husband and I prefer flexibility when traveling and like being on our
own and exploring cities in and out so we decided to arrange for
private guide services to feel secure in such a foreign country. I was
really uncertain about arranging guide services not through my travel
agent but my fears were gone by the time we met with Svetlana. We
found her on www.saintpetersburgtour.com. She was absolutely adorable
and friendly, very knowledgeable so that by the end of the day our
heads were so full of exciting stories and useful information that one
would need one more full day to sort everything out! Anyways, we
absolutely did not regret that we hired her and would certainly
recommend her to anyone who's interested and is planning a trip to
such a beautiful city like Saint Petersburg. By the way, the trip
turned out to be several times cheaper than some packages we were
offered by our travel agent so that we just got plane tickets and had
our visas with his help. Everything else we did on-line on our own.

The Mariinsky Theater is very expensive, so you can save some money buying not the best seats. Don’t worry about that since the hall of the theatre is arranged very well: you will see the performance from anywhere, and moreover the acoustics is perfect irrespective of the seat you occupy. And please stick to your plan and go to the theatre by all means because it is something worth visiting !
Here is some info about the hotel Polikoff: http://www.hotels-of-saint-petersburg.com/hoteldesc82.html . From my point of view, it is a clean and comfortable mini-hotel which is a nice place to stay at. And there is one thing to be mentioned: you’ll fail to find a better location in Saint Petersburg, because Polikoff is situated in the very-very center, in the main avenue of the city and near the most beautiful sights ! |

| Tickets in Mariinsky are very expensive, it's true. Once i have been there at the balcony to the left, my place was at 2nd row. I had real trouble seeing the stage and ticket price was $60. So my advice would be as such: don't take left/right balcony 2nd or 3d row. 1 row is ok and it's close enough to the stage. Back of parterre and back balcony are a little bit far from stage, so it is not so good to see it. |
