Hi,

On our visa, only St-Petersburg and Moscow are listed, because we hadn't booked any hostels in Irkutsk, Tomsk, Tobolsk, Yekaterinburg and Perm yet and our sponsor wouldn't put them on the invitation because of that. We have a flight from St-Petersburg to Irkutsk and take the train back to Moscow. Will we have problems taking te plain to Irkutsk or with cops when we show our visa?

Thanks for your answer!

On your visa? That's the first time I've heard of them putting the cities you're visiting on your actual visa. Which consulate did you get it from?

Hey,

We will get our visa in one week, but when we ordered it at the consulate (Antwerp, Belgium) with our invitation, I asked the lady at the desk if it would be a problem with only St-Petersburg and Moscow on the invitation. The following informative dialogue took place:

She: Visa will be issued as on the invitation.
I: But will it then be a problem when only these cities are shown?
She: That's a problem for the border guards. [left room]

So, in short: I don't know what's on a visa (never been in Russia before), but I read on some webpages that you can be fined when you leave your route (I don't know which documents they look at to check this route).

greets

Don't worry about it. You are able to visit just about anywhere you want, just be mindful of the 72 hour registration rule, and keep your travel tickets as proof, in the event of getting quizzed by the militia. If this is going to happen anywhere, it is most likely to happen in Moscow especially around the Leningradsky / Yaroslavsky station as you are changing trains.

They are like fat greasy vultures there.

Border guards won't be a problem, all they check is that your documents are in order.
