Punk, Hip Hop and Heavy Metal Rolling Eyes
Why? ummmm for the last two years...I have two identical twins 'hip hopping" around me all the time, a Russian wife that wants to drop" heavy metal" pans on my head sometimes, and then I have to deal with "punk kids" when I'm out shopping sometimes with my family that has "no clue" as to what manners and disciple means.

I actually dont mind Punk Rock as long as it sounds good. But the death metal is some horrible horrible shit, and I think it should be outlawed! They are literally talking about doing sick things to people, and giving closet freaks ideas and even encouragement, I think its scary Shocked Now hip hop is fine as long as they arent singing about something stupid, for instance I was listening to launchcast and suddenly this stupid song called "Laffy Taffy" starts playing, the guys are singing "shake that laffy taffy", and im assuming they are talking about a womans butt, which makes no sense because as we are well aware taffy does not shake, it stretches LOL. The gangster rap should be outlawed along with death metal, because basically you have rival gang members promising death upon each other in each song, yet the public is thrilled with this shit and considers it legit music lol. Last but not least, I hate country music for the same reason I dislike some hip hop, and thats due to a stupid subject matter such as "I got a barbeque stain on my white t-shirt". AND "I'm a redneck woman, I aint no high class broad". Laughing So yeah thats about it! Razz

I like country music, but indeed many of the newer 'country' songs are trash.

Both Death Metal and Gangsta rap really do preach some nasty stuff, but most of the lyrics of Death Metal come off a little more cryptic compared to Gangster c-rap . . . which encourages violence that is already enough of a problem in urban areas. That kind of influence is worse, IMO.

I've been in the southwest for 13 years now . . . and well, Country/Western just hasn't rubbed off on me yet Sick. Although the lyrics are perfect for comedy relief. Laughing

I like some rap, not necessarily gangster rap.
Some heavy metal but not all heavy metal. Not sure what death metal is. Probably because I don't listen to it, that I know of.
Some folk/ country but not all folk/ country.
It all depends on the individual song, not the band that sings it.

We live in the mountains...Bluegrass is the norm here with country behind that. Country music to me seems like they're always singing about ...
"you don't want who you got and you can't have who you want" Rolling Eyes
In our home we have a piano and organ, the girls never experienced an organ until they arrived here. The twins took piano lessons in Russia and continue to do so here. They're studying classical music and love it, so do I.
They're slowly testing themselves on the organ, not classical as they play on the piano, but pop on the organ Laughing
On their radios they listen to pop, but will not turn down a trip to a hillbilly music festival that's totally bluegrass... they've both learned to clog and have a lot of fun clogging.
We also keep on top of the Russian (pop) music and order the cd's. I myself enjoy that music and have it on playing now.
The bad music that's being discussed on this thread is a NO NO to all of us, my wife and the twins hate it and wil not listen to it.
Our twins love to dress looking neat and clean, not punk with a cargo pants hanging off their skinny bottoms, and their friends dress the same way and listen to the same music, not the other.
Sometimes I think as adults, we're a lot of the problems with our youth and their bad music. I agree, it should be banded and the music groups that play it.
Just my two cents worth. Very Happy

I used to tell my former boss who liked blue-grass a lot: If there's blue-grass music in heaven I ain't going there! Laughing

I can play virtually any style of music on the guitar except blue-grass. You gotta grow up with that music to play it right.

Never heard of those two. Have you heard The Hammer Of God? It's the heaviest, loudest thrash metal I've ever listened to.

Since we are on the topic of strange music, has anyone ever heard of "Dead can dance"? They have 2 albums that I think are nice: AION and Into the Labyrinth. It seems to be a mix of different things, some of it sounds tribal and some of it sounds celtic.
