A new Russian fighter jet can perform somersaults in mid-air and vanish from radar for a few seconds, so the story goes. It would make for some interesting dogfighting scenes. Jets deploying flares to confuse heat seeking missiles and somersaulting to try to break lock on radar guided missiles. The complexities of using guns in such a situation, is one for the computers to figure out.

so can the US jets Gomer...and most others...I think it russia it is referred to as the cobra manuever...but to be honest it is so non effective and a lot of times the jets will compression stall out...the flares are called chaff and they are a defense that tanks helicopters and other vehicles use to defend off heat seeking missiles. the new fighters in the soviet arsenal have variable vens and they are modified. New fighter technology in Russia is a bit behind. The F-22 and the JSF are at the fore front. But all this said...it's the avionics that give a fighter it's true capabilities. Right now the US has it's first unmanned fighter squadron servin in Iraq...pretty cool huh

The vanishing from radar maneuvers were performed at the MAKS Air Show this past weekend. I wasn't sitting in front of a radar scope, so I can't say for sure that the jet actually vanished from radar, but that's the story.

well one it depends on the radar systems being used...the older radars are better at picking up stealthier slower flying aircraft. Also if the aircraft isn't giving off a lot of heat profiles then radars won't detect them. In GWI the stealth aircraft flew into bagdahd completely un noticed

but yeah there is a lot of cool stuff. Soviet aircrafts always carried a larger weapons load the the usa jets. But the size factor became an issue...a SU 27 or a MiG 35 they have huge profiles...as pilots will say it's like shooting a tennis court. By the way guns are rarely used air to air

I don't think so, but I am sure they used the same technology to make those crafts. I am sure UFO's that crashed over the years had something to do with the sophistication of todays aircrafts. Such a cover up. I don't know why the governments don't come on out and tell us that we are not alone. Those Engineers got their idea from that. The only thing is the metals from these UFO's don't exist on this planet...believe it or not!

UFO'S come up in articles quite freqently in the Russia papers.
I guess flying over the land over there is very interesting to the beings flying the UFO's?

We have an airshow happening this coming weekend at our annual Canadian National Exhibition. Not sure what aircraft is there, other than the Snowbirds but the jets are always fun to watch and listen to.

I love airshows. I get nervous when they start diving. I get a rush and think they are going to crash and some has had that happen. We have a great airshow here during Derby. We have other airshows too but the one during derby is the best.

Well, I don't want to talk too much about UFO's because you can look at some of the caught on satellite tapes that NASA has surfaced on You tube. There is one on there called "UFO NASA unexplained Tether incident" that you can click on to watch. It is 6:27 long. Just put in ufo in the address bar and go to the video with that title and watch it. Take it for what it is worth. I won't post it on the forum. Some people don't believe that stuff.

well that plane is not stealth at all...it's a mig and the heat profile it leaves is a very big one. These planes are now considered obsolete...and radars will pick these fighters up all day long. But they are a bad ass fighter for sure. Just a lot of new stuff out there now...really amazing stuff. Russia will catch up though.

this is stealth:
