Hi,

I am german and I am travelling from South East Asia through China, Mongalia and Russia back to Europe. I have read that to germans visas are generally only issued in Germany. Where is it best for me to try to aply for the russian visa? The planned travel dates are:

30. dec. 2007 - Bangkok
01. feb. 2008 - Phnom Penh
07. mar. - Ha Noi
07. apr. - Beijing
07. may. - Ulan Bator
15. may. - Irkutsk

Hong Kong or Shanghai are not on my route. Hope you can help me. Thank you.

Foreigners can get visa to Russia either in their own country, or in the country, where they have permission to stay for more than 90 days (Resolution of the Russian Government No. 635 from 4th October 2007). If you have such a permission for one of the countries you visit, then you should apply for the Russian visa there. There are several exceptions from the above rule, like participation in official events and serious illness of a relative in Russia, but they do not look useful.
