Let me start by saying that I dont have a clue on what I need to do:
Is it better to get an invitation for a Visa from the person I am visitin or from the hotel?
Secondly, the only flights there are 1 or more stops. If I were to stop in Amsterdam, Germany, or Austria, would I need to get a Visa for any of these?
Also, around how much would a Visa cost, and take to get once I mail my passport in?
All I really know is that I need to get a tourist Visa for 2 weeks. I am planning on being away for around a week, is there a different type I should look at?

Hotel if you are staying less than 30 days. It is hell for your friend to get you a visa.
Assuming that you are an American, then no
Russian Visa will cost you 50 USD,Visaconnections will do the whole thing for you.
Go to visaconnections.com and they can do everything for you.

Or you could consider supporting WTR and getting your invitation here.

After all, you've got a shit load of helpful advice from the members.

If you're coming from the USA, and are an American citizen, you don't need a visa for Amsterdam, Germany, or Austria. A handy-dandy website to check visa requirements (and to also order visas) is www.traveldocs.com. I use them for all of my visa processing. Granted, you could get a visa on your own without using a third-party like Travel Docs, but it sure is nice to have somebody else think about that stuff for you.

The visa invitation is pretty straight-forward - you can get one right here at WTR.

You can get a tourist visa for 1-30 days - I reocmmend that you get one for the maximum window for which you'll want to be in Russia. Granted, you could say you want a visa for dates from 15-21 Feb, but I'd get it for a few days earlier than when you want to go and then 30 days from that. What if you get there and decide you want to stay a bit longer? Or you miss your flight or something?

Enjoy, take pictures, post pictures, tell your story.

Smile

Ok, so I will get the invitation here on WTR. And becuase I cannot afford to mess this up it is worth the extra cash to pay TDS to get my Visa.

Thanks a lot,
I really appreciate the help!!
Very Happy

You can't go wrong with TDS - their business is to know current visa situations aruond the world. I've probably had 20 visas with them for places all around the world and they do it right.

Not connected to them at all - just a happy customer.

But am connected to WTR as a new mod... Shocked
