| I'd heard some time ago that it was really difficult to use cell phones in Russia as not every cell phone provider is there, but is it still difficult to use cellphones in the Urals area?? |

First, you need a 900/1800 model. Major carriers like MST, beeline and Megafon have a reasonable coverage around inhabited places over here, but in the middle of nowhere ( like on village even with population of 100 nearby ) there can be none.

Where in the Ural mountains??
I used my latest model cell phone, but bought a Bee-line cash card. The funntý thing was that I had to show a Russian passport in order to get the card.
Oh, forgot - this was in Ufa, Bashkiria. |

hi,
I used T-Mobil 4 band cell phone in Novosibirsk. Great connection but so expensive ($5 min). So I signed contract with cheap Russian جزر GSM. |
