Hi Guys,
I was hoping someone could help me with my question. I read Russias citizenship code over and over and still do not fully understand my situation.
I was born in 1980 in Odessa, Ukraine, USSR. Both of my parents were born in Russia, USSR. We lived in Odessa and in Omsk in Russia. We left USSR in 1989 and had our passports and papers revoked by the former soviet state. I do have my USSR birth certificate though. I am currently living in Canada. I would like to reinstate my Russian citizenship (not Ukrainian =). Will I have any special consideration? Also if it will make it easier I can get one or both of my parents to reinstate theirs.
Thanks in advance!

II. Приобрести гражданство России в упрощенном порядке без соблюдения условия о сроке проживания...могут следующие категории лиц:
а) иностранные граждане и лица без гражданства, достигшие возраста восемнадцати лег и обладающие дееспособностью:
...
- лица, имевшие гражданство СССР, проживавшие и проживающие в государствах, входивших в состав СССР, и не получивших гражданства этих государств;
The only question is what does 'проживавшие и проживающие в государствах, входивших в состав СССР' - "lived there since ussr breakdown and live now" or "lived sometime or live now". |
