Way to Russia Talk Lounge

Has ANYONE ever managed to contact the UK Embassy in Moscow and been able to talk to someone helpful?!

I am desperately trying to find out everything I need in order to marry my Russain fiancee in her Siberian hometown, but no one will talk to me!!

The person who answers on the switchboard puts me through to numbers that ring forever without benig answered, or gives me a number that just has a recorded message, or simply hangs up!

Once I thought I was finally talking to someone, but as soon as I mentioned the word 'marry' she suddenly started having problems hearing me and then cut me off.

Please - does anyone know an extension number of someone helpful?!!!

Wow! Making those calls from the UK to Russia must be expensive!!
Well I asked the British Embassy in Moscow a question via email and after about 4 or 5 days I finally received an answer...an answer saying to contact the Russian Embassy in London. Wow! big help...but the lady was extremely nice and even apologised for the delay in replying! I can give you her personal email address if you would like to talk with her. She is the conslar assistant. Just let me know if you want her address if you feel she can help you in her position. Ok?!

Acoreana, please, yes!! Any contact I can make will help me. When I tried the Russian Embassy in London earlier this week, both calls were answered by different people and both times they claimed not to talk English, Russian only, and hung up on me. I wouldn't mind if I was being an idiot on the phone, but when my only question at that point was "do you speak english?" i think it's a little unfair!! Unfortunately my Russian is at such an early stage, conversation is a way off just yet...

WayToRussia admin, I have read, re-read, printed off and read that article again! It is indeed the best and most conscise bit of info on the web and puts what is available on official sites to shame, but in addition to this, I just want to talk it through with someone to ensure I fully understand each part of it, I really do not want to mess this up somewhere just beause I had a misunderstanding of something!!

Paul Holmes, I have read so many posts on this forum now and your name is one that comes up against a hell of a lot of useful info (some of which has already helped me - thank you!), but I don't understand what you meant here? Am I in the wrong place?
