I was just wondering if anybody who lives in St.Petersburg or has visted there can tell me what are some the nicest places to check out if you were visiting. I plan on visiting Russia possibly next year, I just want to know what kind of places would be good to explore if I went to St.Petersburg. I would definitely appreciate it!

XOXO

Ok. St.Petersburg. Musts for the girl:
1. the Hermitage (Winter Palace) - roam around the Gala Rooms, enjoy the art collection and try to imagine who were those people living and dancing here.
2. The Treasure Gallery of the Hermitage – must see for the girl who likes jewelry. Unbelievable collection.
3. The city tour which includes the visit of the two most spectacular churches – St.Isaak’s and Savior-on-the-Blood and Peter-and-Paul Fortress to see the gravy of Anastasia and learn the real story of her. Listen to the story of Alexander II assassination –you will cry. Take a good photo stop near Smolny convent – the church which looks like the best wedding cake.
4. Visit the Yusupov palace to see the private rooms of the wealthiest people in Russia and learn the story of Rasputin’s murder.
5. Choose the sunny day and go to Peterhof by the hydrofoil. Take hundreds of pictures of sparkling water and golden statues. Rent a historical dress and take a picture of yourself pretending you are the princess.
6. Go to visit the Catherine’s palace to enjoy beauty of Russian baroque and see the world famous Amber Room.
7. Don’t fall asleep at one of the nights and take a night boat ride under the open bridges.

Seems to be quite a list.

Plan your trip and enjoy it!

Very Happy

Although I certainly agree with most of the places suggested, I just have to pipe in that feeling like a princess is not that important for some women.

St. Petersburg… You’ll not have to strain the ear to hear the jungle of a troika drawing up outside the winter Palace with guests for the Court ball, or peer too closely to see Anna Karenina in her black velvet gown, or poor Raskolnikoff staring across the slow –moving waters.
Few cities can offer so many stunning attractions and intriguing moods as St. Petersburg - City of the Tsars. Visit Hermitage museum, form that place, Dvortzovaya' Nabereznaya (bank of Neva River) take a high- speedboat to Petrodvorets, the summer residence of Russian Tsar, famous with its fantastic parks and fountains. Another very romantic place, and its my favorite, The Summer Garden with its famous gates along the bank of Neva and the quiet lonely alleys.
Travel to Russia has become easier than ever. Remember, however those visas are required. And you need a fully licensed travel company like Isram World of Travel, or Easterntours consolidated, or RNG to provide the necessary visa support and registration. There’s much more to see in and around the hundred islands comprising St. Petersburg and I wish you a safe and pleasant trip.

I would suggest checking with local St. Petersburg guides when your trip approaching. It will be very up-to-date and practical information.

www.hermitagemuseum.org is the website for the Hermitage.

An absolute must see, even for a cultural barbarian like myself. You'll probably be slugged the "foreigners" entry price, but you only live once.

The only negative thing I can think of about St P is the Gypsy kids and their thieving little hands. They mostly hang around Nevski Prospect so just make sure your hands are on your wallet/purse if your paths should cross. Other than that, it's a great place.
