| Which type of music do you prefer? (Personally, in my opinion, "rap" = "retards attempting poetry", but that's just me. What do you guys think? |

| Rap seems to get a lot of airtime on Russian radio so I guess it's popular in Russia. Unless the government tells radio stations what to play, popular or not. I like rock in general, depends on the specific song. I like some hip-hop but only specific songs. |

Oh, no! They are bringing that garbage to Russia now?! Isn't Russian society polluted enough without people like Detsl, Serega, and others?! Where are the Lubera when you need them?!
Oh, well... At least the skinheads, it seems, are going after the rappers right now... That's a good thing... I guess.
I honestly don't know why you would like hip-hop? It is repetitive swearing and cursing, that they (the rappers) managed to put into rhymes, that is honestly all there is to hip-hop/rap. |

In Moscow, I talked to some teenagers, 20 somethings and 30 somethings and some of them like rap. What kind of rap, I don't know. Forty somethings and older, not like rap so much.
I've met and talked to a few people who wrote 'pop rap' back in the early '90s. I listen to their songs when they come on the radio, once in awhile. Oldies if not necessarily goldies. Don't know if 'pop rap' is considered to be hip-hop. |

| Popular hip-hop - the shit you see on MTV - is probably giving you a warped opinion of the genre. Just the same as I would think rock was terrible if I only heard the modern mainstream stuff. There are lesser-known rappers who write far better lyrics than any modern-day poet out there. |

Come now, what's wrong with "ARIA", for example? Or how about "Machina Vremeni"? (Okay, that one is not so modern anymore ) And then there's the non-Russian classics: "Led Zeppelin", "The Police", and of course, "The Rolling Stones" . |

Blues and jazz for me......without either, you would not have rock or rap.....
Buddy Guy, Gatemouth Brown, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Pat Metheny, Weather Report, the list goes on and on........and let us NOT forget Charlie Parker........ |

Don't know Mashina Vremeni and can't say I'm a fan of ARIA. The other bands are all great, but none are modern. Seriously, if you delve a bit deeper into hip-hop, you'd be surprised how clever some of the guys making that music are. |

I love Mashina Vremeni!!! I also really like Aria (especially their older stuff)...
But there are also some really good perestroichnie bands like Kino (YES!!!), DDT, Nautilus Pompilius, Alisa...
But I like Mashina Vremeni and Kino the most. Mashina Vremeni has such a huge range of styles under their belt (btw, if anyone likes blues a lot, then Mashina Vremeni and especially Voskresenie ('Sunday', project founded by MV guitarist Margulis, heavily focused on Blues, but also a lot of light acoustic rock... |

lol You know, Andrei Makarevich has his own cook show these days on... NTV (?). Or at least he did. Don't know if he still does... It is/was called "Smak", I think. |

Yeah, I was just telling someone the other day that I wish Makarevich was still on that show instead of just that asshole urgant...
Yeah, it was called 'Smak', I watched it once in a while (pretty rarely, but once I saw Makarevich and that comedian Galtsev jamming... it was pretty damn good...). |
