Of course, the good guys: Admiral Kolchak and co.
Russia is actually more an more nostalgic and proud ot its "glorious past" as an Empire. It's likely that other movies like "Admiral" will be produced in the future. Maybe, in Russia, people have forgotten that The "Glorious Empire of Russia" has been overthrown by... a band of peasants!

| I think Glorious Russian Empire beat itself as this band of workers was part of the emprie. I think such film will do more good than yet another hollywood blockbuster like "Death race" or "Spider/Iron/X/Green man". |

Almost went to see it recently in Russia. Would have enjoyed it, even though my Russian language skills match a toddler's (or worse)! I've seen a number of Russian movies in cinemas without knowing the language over the last year (its been all good).
"The Admiral" looked fantastic - the TV ads, the huge street posters, and all the associated marketing. I guess non-Russians like myself will have to wait years for an English-subtitled DVD version to be released.
Why on earth do such foreign language subtitled releases take so long anyway - years (eg. Daywatch)? Extra $$$, the earlier, the better I would have thought (for blockbusters).
Hope the movie is a huge success! |

Actually "the Glorious Empire of Russia" has been overthrown by Von Edimburg and the German Imperial Army.
The movie seems to be a good one though.
To Darthvader :
You will not have to wait for years to watch this movie with english subtitles : next year you will find a pirate copy with any language subtitles you want |

We are going to see yet another piece of beautiful myth about Great Imperial Russia. All those officers, mademoiselles, admirals/generals, aristocrates, tzars... All of them are equally responsible for that that happened. The criteria is one, when people live good life they are reluctant to make revolutions and uprisings, no matter how much foreign money is put into it.
Anyway I'm going to see it. I think our beautiful myth better than beautiful imported one.
Hey, Rimski... you better decide finally who they were... peasants of workers.

Wish there was a list of movies at the theatres in Russia so we can find them and watch over here.
Used to be that Russia was always up for best foreign film award for the Oscars.
Hopefully my Russian will be good enough so I can finally watch the movie about the dog, white ear black something. I forget. |

Unfortunately I can watch it in Russian, but can't find it in English.
Some real masterpieces were done. It is too bad that many movies in Russian like Anti Killer are now badly made action flicks which the subtle movies of the past. I think there is room for both.
I miss Sergei Boldrov Jr. So much potential and so much talent. |
