hi, My name is Marina. I am Russian. My husband is German. We live in the USA. What kind of visa could he apply for to go to Russia from the usa?I suppose it must not be a tourist visa any more...
Thank you

First, I am curious as to why you think that your husband cannot apply for a tourist visa. It seems to me that if you are simply going to Russia for a visit, then he should be able to go with a tourist visa. Of course, a tourist visa will limit his stay to 30 days but unless you plan to be in Russia longer, a tourist visa should be just fine.

Second, normally German passport holders need to apply for Russian visas in Germany but assuming that your husband holds a residency permit for the US (a green card or a work visa) he should be able to apply for a Russian visa in the US.

And finally, if your husband wants to stay in Russia more than 30 days but not reside there, there are only two options - a 90 day business visa or a private visa. The paperwork for the former can be obtained online. For the latter, a friend or family member would need to assist in applying for these documents which can take weeks to receive and be expensive for your Russian friend or family to obtain since generally it is best to have them sent via courier service to be sure that they arrive.

Ruth, thank you so much
I mean, is there any other way to go to Russia without visa stuff? Rolling Eyes He is my husband. I, for example, can travel to Germany and Europe without applying for visa...
Or he has to apply for Russian citizenship to travel to Russia easily?

He needs a visa. Sorry but Russia doesn't make it simple. I am not aware of other options.

I am not sure that he can even get a Russian passport easily and possibly not without giving up his German passport.

If you were living and working in Russia then you might be able to sponsor him for some sort of spousal visa but as your don't live there I am not sure that you can do this. If you want to know if this is possible, just contact the nearest Russian consulate.

Marinoschka,
My wife is Russian, I'm Australian and I still need a visa every time we go to Russia regardless. Just the way it is.

Everbrite, long time no see/hear. I actually managed to log back into TheThorntree for the first time in years. Good to see you are still out 'n' about with your invaluable advice!
