Has anyone stayed at this hotel or does anyone know about it's reputation?
How is location and amenties at the hotel.
Since it is located along a Kanal at Griboedov Kanal, emb 50, I would think it would a good location - no traffic etc? |

| No traffic jams on Canal Griboedova? This is ironical, right? |

Thanks gaijin. The map is in Russian though! For me, it would be more helpful if the map was in English.
Anyway, I found one minor "minus" about the hotel - rooms do not have air conditioning (a/c)! Is that a big problem in SPB? For me, a hotel is somewhere to sleep, that's it. So if it is not too hot & humid to sleep at night, lack of a/c is not a problem.
Now about the location: On paper, pictures and videos, even a dump of a place can be made to look the greatest place on earth!
The question is, is a hotel location along a Kanal, always good/great?
I am far from lazy about walking. In fact, I prefer walking to any other form of transportation. I walk and I walk until I get blisters on my feet. It is funny, whichever city I visit, I always buy "unlimited travel" passes for subway/buses but make very little use of them, becasue I prefer to walk around the streets. |

If you replace "ru by "com"

About the hotel being along a canal: canals in Piter do not get stinky as they would in warmer cities (Venice...). There is very little traffic in this part of the canal, much more on the other side of Nevsky, so you shouldn't be too bothered by touristic boat with loudspeakers. If you want a quiet place, look for hotels that have rooms with windows over parks instead of streets. In the center it will make the noise level from "unbearable" down to "annoying". Of course if they have double windows it doesn't matter so much.
Concerning A/C : very unusual in Piter. What would you have A/C for? Last summer I was annoyed with heat for about 3 weeks. It wouldn't have been too hot if I could open the windows, but the noise level was unbearable. This summer I have nothing to worry about, when I open windows I only hear children playing and birds singing .
When do you plan to go? If it's not too soon I might have a look next time I'm in this part of the city.
edited to add: if you look at the satellite picture it looks the hotel doesn't have windows to the south. So heat certainly won't be a problem.
And the metro station near the hotel has 3 lines, with the new one they've opened a month ago. |

Thanks gaijin.
I'll will be in Piter from May 31 to June 4. I guess at night it won't be hot & humid during that period and lack of air conditioning will not be a problem?
By zooming in on the map, I see that Griboyedova Kanal emb 50 is where pereulok Grivtsova crosses the Griboyedova Kanal. Am I reading this correctly? What does "pereulok" mean - street, road..? How long would say the walk is from there to Isaac Square?
I also see traffic arrows along both side of the canal which means there is auto/truck traffic along the canal? At night/early morning, is the traffic heavy or light/slow or fast?
By the way, do the trains from Moscow arrive at Moskovski railway station? And how long is the walk along Nevsky Prospekt from the station to the Neva River?
Thanks for your help. |

pereulok = side street; lane.
