How would I ship a 500 lb generator to Moscow?

This is a heavy backup generator, more than 30 years old but still usable for a friend's grandfather's summer cabin. Does anyone have an idea of the cheapest safe way to get it to him? He can pick it up in Moscow. The unit is in San Diego, California.
