The Kalashnikov Museum in pre-Ural's Izhevsk was a very interesting place to visit. Saw it last year.

Very interesting exhibits, in a very nicely presented building.

"The Centre was opened in the city of Izhevsk, Russia on November 4, 2004 - one week prior to Mikhail Kalashnikov's 85th birthday......

......Kalashnikov donated to the museum photos, archives, memoirs, video materials, numerous certificates of merit and awards, and his own collection of edged weapons. At present, the museum's collection contains about 5,000 items........

........This is not just one more weapons museum - on the contrary, visitors become acquainted with a lively, intelligent and sensitive person. There are plenty of household items on display, and voice of Mikhail Kalashnikov follows you throughout the exhibition........ "

Virtual tour of museum is here:

One of the best aspects, was to go down to the museum basement and shoot targets with AK-47s, sniper rifles and just about anything else!

I can't type the cyrillic address for you.

However, the museum email: museum-mtk@mail.ru

Phone: (3412) 51-34-52 or 51-45-38
