Hi eveyone, I'm planning to Visit Russia in this July. And i desperately wanted to travel on Trans-Siberian Railway, But the time i have is very short and all i can have is maximum 2 days for the journey ( both ways, from Moscow to Moscow).
Can anyone tell me a worthy place to visit on the Railway Line and approximately the time it takes to go there? I'm intrested to see the lake Baikal, but i have absolutely no idea how much time it does take to go and come back to moscow.
Also, can we purchase tickets at the same time on railway station or do we have to book or reserve them? If so, how we can do it.
Could anyone kindly suggest me something?

Russia is enormous - in fact, the biggest country in the world!
To see Baikal by rail, even 7 days would be a short time. The train takes about 26 hours to reach Ekaterinburg - Baikal takes around 3 days.
I hope you can plan a longer visit in the future - the best way to explore Russia is to have plenty of time.
If you really want to be able to say you rode the Trans-Siberian, I suppose you could use it for one direction of a visit to Vladimir (a very nice town in of the "Golden Ring" of cities around Moscow). If you stayed overnight in Vladimir, some of the Trans-Sib trains returning to Moscow stop there around noon, if you can get the ticket! |
