Hi -a little bit out of the ordinary visa application for you here, and one question that I need answering. This is my 5th trip to Russia, so I'm relatively au fait with the basics of the visa application process, but so far have only done it in the UK.

We are 5 students (me UK, 1 Finn and 3 US) currently studying in Germany. We are going to Russia on the 22nd Feb for a month, and have an invitation, and have all filled out application forms. We are all registered to live in Germany - the Yanks have the permission to remain in Germany in their passports, me and the Finn have an extra little booklet that we're going to send along. We are applying to the consulate in Bonn by post.

The only problem is insurance. The other four all have insurance policies that are valid in russia, and we have duly filled in the little "Versicherung" slips available from http://www.russische-botschaft.de . The trouble is, I don't need insurance in Russia, due to our bilateral agreement on healthcare, and as such have no insurance number or policy to put on the slip. It is, I am sure, too much to ask to expect the people at the consulate to know about the UK-Russia bilateral agreement. Do you think I should a) not send any form. b) send the form from the website, but write, "not necessary as I'm British" or some such statement, or c) send them a little card inside saying the same.

Don't want to get the visas turned down - can't afford it in terms of time and money.

Thanks in advance for your help,

Tim xxx
