I am more familiar with Russians abroad since I have never visited Russia myself and have no friends living there with whom I could communicate.
Living in Prague has made me aware of an important Russian presence here.
Russians open many stores here and they are the owners of beautiful houses. They seem to have many ties and contacts that help them gain more and more power in Prague. When I hear Czech people talking about the subject, it sometimes seems as if Russia is still a shadow power behind the identity of Czech Republic.
When visiting Karlovy Vary recently, I learned that this famous tourist attraction has passed almost to its entirety to the hands of Russians.
I find this is an interesting phenomena and I would be really curious to have your deeper insight about this.

| Why is it a phenomenon again? British buy abroad all the time, so do Americans. If those Russians have money and desire to live in Prague, what is so unusual about it? |
