Hi, this coming summer. Myself and a few others are looking into going trans-siberian, and then flying back to alaska. The only reasonably priced flight was in northern chukotka. Is there anyway to get to Anadyr by ground at all? Just trying to find out what options are available.

I don't think so. There is about 1000 kilomteres distance from Anadyr to Magadan and from Magadan to Transsib even more. There is a route there, but I don't think there is regular passanger traffic on it. Aviation is the only means of transport there.

I perfectly know, how it is possible to reach Chukotka.

The international flights up to cities of Chukotka are not present.
There are two flights up to Moscow - one of the city of Pevek (400$) and one of the city of Anadyr (450$). Flights are carried out 2 times a week.

It is possible to reach Alaska only through the city of Magadan. It is necessary to fly by plane or with Pevek or Anadyr, and then about Magadan up to Anchorage. At the Magadan airport there were flights earlier. At least I remembered then when I was there recently.

I want to warn you, that is not present overland lines between cities of Chukotka - no railway, no routes.
Also to your attention, Chukotka is a border zone. At an arrival in the airport Anadyr you can have problems with boundary service. Therefore it is better to take care of documents beforehand.

And in general Chukotka REALLY costs there to go!

If there will be questions - ask me, I know Chukotka very well and I can tell you everything whar I know. Smile

Good Luck!
