I am a woman photographer - 55 years old. I plan to stay a week in Moscow
before travelling on. I am looking for a home stay or a small hotel but would
like this to be very central or in an interesting part of the town. Can anyone
advise me in which part of Moscow I should look for this.
Thanks,

| I have been to Moscow several times and have always stayed at the Hotel Belgrad. It is in the center of the city, close to two Metro stations and very close to Arbat Street, a street that is only for pedestrians. One time I did start out staying in an apartment but changed to the hotel after 3 days. The entrances and elevaters to these apartment building are kind of scary. Never know who you might meet in a dark foyer. Hotel Belgrad remodeled theor lobby so they might have raised their rates. Just do a search for Hotel Belgrad and you should find many listings. |

Try http://waytorussia.net/Services/Homestay.html
The good area for you may be Kitai Gorod, there are no homestays in this area, but a few apartments for short-term rent waytorussia.net/Services/ApartmentsMoscow/Luxury.html and a horrible hotel Rossiya, which is very well located though... |

| Avoid the Hotel Rossiya at all costs. EXTREMELY Rude service, crappy room, and super expensive. They will charge foriegners over $100 US per night! I was only at that hotel for one night, but that was one night too many. |

Thanks for the information. I will try the Hotel Belgrad as suggested.
