Hello;

I am sure that this question has been asked many times but I am new here. I have already received my private invitation. What do I need to do now? I have been told that I send it along with my passport, a visa form and the fee to the nearest Russian Consulate (New York City for me) is this correct and can I do this myself or would it be better for me to use a service. This will be my first time visiting Russia and I don’t have a clue what to do.

You're better off doing it yourself, but before sending anything check with the consulate's website about their requirements. For consulate www addresses see http://waytorussia.net/RussianVisa/RussianConsulates.html
