Alright, my tickets are booked and everything is paid for.
Now what clothing should I take?
My trip is the 6th of September to the 25th of September.
To my knowledge it is autumn. Is there any chance of snow?
to give you a little info about myself I am from Australia and work in a bakery so I do feel the cold.
I was thinking something along the lines of jeans (black), long sleeve shirts (kinda like semi formal business shirts) and a jacket (nothing too thick).
Cheers. |

I think you'll be alright in September. School starts September 1, I get there ~20 August. I intend to take nothing more than a couple pairs of jeans, some shirts and sweaters, and a nice leather jacket. Is that going to last me the winter? NO. But I also intend to befriend enough Russians to learn not only WHAT to buy, but where to buy it, so the infamous "Russian Winter" is survivable for this Florida boy.
Obviously Russians feel free to correct me, as August will be my first time there - but I'm going to be there for at least 11 months at a stretch (I may or may not come home during July 2006), so I'm hoping to acclimate and become "Russified" at least to the cold within a month of arrival. You should be OK with what you're planning to bring. |

| It can snow in late autumn... can get pretty chilly, but like init6 said, you should be able to buy something in Russia if you need additional clothes. In september it can be a bit chilly as well as rainy. Pack in a raincoat or umbrella too. |

| I believe so. Besides I really suggest you should because these are usually formal events, and as respect to the performers/organizers, you should dress formally. |

I cannot imagine they will not let you in unless you wear suits. This cannot be the case. I saw a crowd right next to the theater - while many older people were wearing suits, many younger people were not.
I bet dark pants, brown/dark shoes and sweater or shirt or any kind of jacket will do fine. No reason to bring a suit so far away so you can go to theaters. In New York many people wear suits to opera/theater performances, does not mean you have to. |
