Ok, a small follow-up on the new folder suggestion:scammers thread

Honestly, a new folder is the last thing we need.

Since they don't seem to "get it", they keep on coming, and they wont go away, I say contain them in their little section and keep the rest of the board free of their posts. Deleting and banning them outright would be censorship since they really aren't doing anything wrong in the first place.

If we move these posts to Not Relevant along with a note explaining why, then I think that is the best. Here is an example note.

The last two URLs are where the FSB and the FBI want people to report crimes to them. If a scam is not a crime worth reporting to the police then it is not worth discussing on the net. And if more people would report the criminals, then people would stop doing it. The FSB has arrested people for scamming, most recently in Ekaterinburg. For some reason, suckers who send money to Russian criminals are stone stupid. They don't know that Russia has police and you can report crimes to them.

wavetossed, we've (the mods) have been thinking the same way too. I think that's a good way to tackle the situation. However we think it's also fair that we let this poll run for a few more days to let people let us know what they think. If people indeed think it's better to move them to Not Relevant, then we will notify admin and take action.

Agata, i am not completely sure about scam topics, but dating - is not relevant for this forum... so I guess we should delete them as well as spam and so on.

Where they can all get to gether and whine that when they tried to buy a Russian girl they got scammed Crying or Very sad

Wouldn't it just be so much easier if you could just charge-a-girl-on Paypal?

There are countless other forums for dating etc etc, including huge indexes of scammers elsewhere on the World Wide Wait. I believe Dmitri's original intent was a TRAVEL website and I for one would rather it broadly continue in that vein.

As you realise, no one has voted to leave them where they are (Talk Lounge/Russian People/Contexts). It means we have to do something about them, be it to move or delete them.

We will make a decision soon.

We've discussed and think that moving these topics to Not Relevant would be the most suitable optioin. Deleting/banning them is too extreme and should be limited only to the most notorious WWuWannabes.

However, it may be difficult to define which is a 'dating/scam' post or not since many have a few ligit travel-related questions in there. We're wondering if we should bother to censor parts of a post, but it could be tedious.

In any case, we will need to write new rules regarding this. Meanwhile we still need to collect more votes.
