| Rewan, perhaps it would be useful if you can post something about what we can do when we experience an fire emergency in Russia, like who to call, what signs to look out for, fire safety systems in buildings etc. |

Whilst not strictly biased towards russian content, the original post was very informative and the link gave good advice.

| I'm not saying the original article was not useful. I found it informative myself. I thought perhaps someone could enlighten us on fire safety procedures in Russia. Does anyone know a Russian website similar to that? |

| Most guidebooks and books on Russian culture (the "Culture Shock!" series, especially "Moscow At Your Door" is an excellent one) describe emergency numbers and basic Russian phrases (since operators are not English speakers) to describe the situation. |

While such info can be easily found on a phrase book...
The WTR site ('practicalities') list 'emergency situations' as losing your documents, getting into trouble with cops and the like--not what to do when you need to call an ambulance or the police or the fire brigade! |

Seems like the worst thing to do in an emergency is to call the cops (Beslan; Dubrovka Theater in Moscow)! Anybody have any experiences in Russia requiring police assistance? Results? Outcome? |
